Single-sex classrooms; a way towards equality

“The Hjalli Pedagogy” is an ideology developed in Iceland whereby both girls and boys in segregated groups practise skills and challenges that are usually monopolized by the other sex. Through it both sexes gain a more holistic self image.

One Response to Single-sex classrooms; a way towards equality

  1. Mark says:

There are as much negative things to come out of this as there are positive. Understanding the opposite sex being just one,as socialising is an important thing in regards to getting to know a person and of course male/female relationships. I believe in the long term it can be harmful and by no means an equality solution as it is not being the same as in sharing in equal measure the same education. Dividing is just that, it seperates and puts one before the other in importance. To be equal is to treat people as being equal and not preference.
