Smart Grid Gotland

With a modern distribution network the electricity system can be more efficiently used. This means at the same time helping customers with energy efficiency measures, such as automatic direction of consumption to low cost periods; realising the potential of small scale renewable electricity production; and supporting the introduction of electric vehicles. The concept is called ‘smart grids’ and Vattenfall is developing a pilot project on the Swedish island of Gotland.
